Smallest constituency... but biggest problem for two parties
By: Tupaki Desk | 14 Jun 2023 3:35 PM ISTIt might be the smallest constituency in Telangana, but the political tussle in Goshamahal stadium is quite big and is promising to get bigger. Goshamahal is an extremely influential constituency as it houses the state headquarters of both the BJP and the Congress Party. A constituency with a significant BC population and north Indian voters, Goshamahal is the wholesale business hub of the state.
For the Congress, the problem in Goshamahal is that it has no candidate worth the salt. After the death of former minister Mukesh Goud, the Congress Party is rudderless in Goshamahal. The cadre too is slowly drifting away from the party. The party is still said to be searching for a suitable candidate to be fielded from Goshamahal constituency.
For the BJP, it is a problem of plenty. The party has at least three claimants for the Goshamahal ticket. Rajasingh is the sitting MLA and is planning to contest from Goshamahal for the third time. Backed by the strong presence of the Lodha community, to which he belongs, and the Marwari Hindi society, he is confident that he would score a hattrick from Goshamahal. Staunch Hindu identity too has endeared Rajasingh to the local Telugu voters.
Former minister Mukesh Goud's son Vikram Goud, however, is strongly pitching to be the candidate from Goshamahal. He feels that the goodwill earned by his father and the strong presence of the BC community will help him in the elections. He has already made it clear that he would contest as an independent candidate if the BJP refuses the ticket to him. Members of Tiger Ale Narendra too are aspiring for the Goshamahal ticket. It remains to be seen how the BJP leadership unknots the Goshamahal problem.
