Following the rise in the deaths from the Covid-19 pandemic, US President Donald Trump announced that the social distancing across the nation will be extended for a month.

The initial 15-day period of social distancing urged by the federal government got expired by Monday and President Trump had expressed interest in relaxing the national guidelines at least in parts of the country less afflicted by the pandemic but changed his decision with the outbreak.

Things changed quickly when the government's top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci said that the nation might experience more than 100,000 deaths and millions of infections from the pandemic.

Donald Trump's decision to extend the social distancing clearly shows one thing, the struggle will take place over the longer haul.

"A potential 100,000 to 200,000 deaths are entirely conceivable if not enough is done to mitigate the crisis. The extension of the guidelines wise and prudent decision," Fauci added.

More the 145,000 Covid-19 positive cases and 2500 deaths were reported in the US so far. Social distancing in the nation has played a vital role in bringing down the cases of positive patients.
