By: Tupaki Desk | 19 Dec 2015 12:01 PM GMTA Court in Delhi Today granted bail to AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi and Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case. The judge asked the two top brass leaders to furnish personal bonds of Rs 50,000 each and surety to walk free.
BJP Leaders Subramanian Swamy moved court alleging Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi of misusing the funds from National Herald, once run by Gandhi family, to amass wealth. Subsequently, The court directed them to appear before it on December 19th. Apart from opposing the bail to Sonia & Rahul, He appealed court to seize the passports of the Congress Leaders.
However, The Court felt there is no need for imposing restrictions on Sonia and Rahul as they have deep roots in the society and are active as public representatives. While former Defence Minister AK Antony offered surety for Sonia, Priyanka Vadra Gandhi stood surety for Rahul.
The next hearing of the National Herald case is on February 20th, 2016. Gandhis might move supreme court seeking a stay on the case.
