SA banned from Bidding for ignoring Blacks
By: Tupaki Desk | 26 April 2016 5:58 AM GMTSouth Africa has been banned its own Rugby Union from bidding to host 2023 Rugby World Cup after failing to provide enough opportunities for black players.
Even Cricket South Africa, Athletics South Africa and Netball South Africa were prohibited by the Government from bidding for or hosting any major events for at least a year after they fell short of transformation targets. Only Football South Africa managed to meet the parameters set by the Government.
South Africa is one of the four countries keen to host 2023 Rugby World Cup along with France, Italy and Ireland. Rugby South Africa is holding talks with Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula to lift the ban.
Actually, South Africa won the Rugby World Cup in 1995, that was the last time they hosted the mega tourney.
South African Government is trying to create more opportunities for black people who make up more than 80 percent of the country's population.
