Special category for AP is not possible, even if Chandrababu Naidu becomes the PM of India!
By: Tupaki Desk | 3 April 2021 9:29 AM GMTThe leaders of political outfits in Andhra Pradesh breathed fire on the BJP party for promising special Union Territory status to poll-bound Puducherry, batting a blind eye towards Andhra Pradesh.
BJP Rajya Sabha member Sujana Chowdary, who bid goodbye to TDP post-2019 elections jumped in support of BJP's stand to not grant special category status for Andhra Pradesh.
The Rajya Sabha member accused the ruling YSRCP and opposition TDP of using the special category issue for their political gains and opined that they are blaming the BJP in the Puducherry issue for no reason.
He reciprocated what the BJP leaders and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said about special category status. The Rajya Sabha member called the special category issue a closed chapter.
Chowdary took a step ahead and said Andhra Pradesh cannot get Special Category status even if TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu becomes the Prime Minister of India.
Citing the recommendations of the finance commission, the Rajya Sabha member said there is no possibility of granting special status to any state and Union Territory. Though AP was not granted a special category, the Union government gave more funds to the state for developmental programs, he said.
