Special Court issued a death sentence accused in Samata case

Going into the case Samata who hails from the Nirmal's Khanapur are works as a street hawker and sells cosmetics and petty items. She was found dead in the Lingala Mandal of the Asifabad district.
Post investigation, Shaik Babu (35), Shaik Shaboddin (30), and Shaik Makdum (40), were arrested by the cops under murder, gangrape charges under the SC and ST Prevention of Atrocities Act.
This horrifying incident resulted in protests in Asifabad as activists in large numbers staged protests condemning the act. The activists also alleged that the government showed negligence in delivering justice to the victim as she hails from the Dalit community.
The government set up a special court in Adilabad in December 2019 with the protests began to intensify day by day. Samata's husband was given a job by the state government as an attendant at a Social Welfare Hostel.
