By: Tupaki Desk | 30 July 2018 11:39 AM GMTAll these days, Public used to be scared of the prices of snacks and soft drinks sold in multiplexes and theatres. The prices of popcorn and cool drink had been costing more then ticket in multiplexes. Telangana Government decided to act tough on such unacceptable practices. All the products sold in the Multiplexes and Theatres should have MRP tags. Stringent action would be taken if the items were sold for prices higher than MRP.
Telangana Weights & Measurement Department head Akun Sabharwal issued a stern warning to Multiplexes and Theatres recently. Here is the list of strict instructions passed...
1) Every Item sold in theatre should have MRP tag, Manufacturing Date & Weight details.
2) If MRP changes, Corrections should be made accordingly from time to time.
3) Different Brand Food Items must be kept available in Theatres.
4) Full Address and Item Name should be clearly mentioned on packaged items.
5) A Board must be set up to make Public understand everything.
6) All items should be sold as per MRP.
New Rules will come into effect from August 1st, 2018. If items were sold for more than MRP, Theatre Management wouldn't only face fine but also has to face jail term. Rs 25,000 & Rs 50,000 penalty will be levied for First & Second Violations. Rs 1 lakh fine & 6 months jail term for Third Violation.
Public can bring the violations of norms by Theatre Management to the notice of Telangana Weights & Measurements Department by dialing to Toll Free Number 180042500333 or WhatsApp Number 7330774444.
