Infections Related To UK Strain Of Covid-19 Increasing In India

As the latest development, five more infections of the new lineage of the pandemic were detected on Thursday in Pune's Maharashtra. With this, the total infections of the variant in the country reach 25.
According to the reports, four infections were detected by the National Institute of Virology based out of Pune and the other infection was traced by CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology in Delhi.
The health officials of Maharashtra and Delhi were informed about the news of new infections. They have swung into action and shifted the infected people to the state-run quarantine facilities.
The News Agency ANI quoted a health ministry official as saying, so far 25 people were found infected with the UK strain of the virus in India. All of them have been shifted to quarantine centers.
Looking at the series of fresh infections, six infections were detected on Tuesday, while 14 other cases were detected on Wednesday.
The experts claim that, compared to the previous strain, the new strain is 70% more transmissible which has spread to other countries from the United Kingdom.
