Another Jallikattu-like Movement
X
Tamilians are known for their fighting spirit. They got the ordinance in favour of the bull-taming sport Jallikattu by launching a statewide movement. The suicide of Anitha who moved a petition against NEET might lead to a similar movement in Tamil Nadu.

Last Month, Supreme Court passed a verdict that admissions will happen based on NEET (National Common Entrance Exam) score not on Class 12 marks. Anitha wasn't able to attain the score required to qualify for NEET. She moved a petition in SC saying poor students can't afford private coaching classes. The 17-Year-Old committed suicide on Friday. Since then, Protests have erupted across Tamil Nadu.

Anitha's Family rejected the Rs 7 lakh financial aid offered by Tamil Nadu Government. Mani Ratnam (Anitha's Brother) told his Sister killed self for exemption from NEET for poor students like her not for Government aid.

Students and Political Parties in Tamil Nadu have been protesting against NEET since Anitha killed herself. Youth have been conducting anti-Government rallies. None of the measures taken up by AIADMK Government have been yielding results. DMK decided to hold an All-Party Meeting on September 8th to take a stand on NEET.

Not just Tamil Nadu, Even Telugu States raised objections on NEET. However, Centre and Supreme Court backed NEET. What could be the result of the movement which began in Tamil Nadu?
