By: Tupaki Desk | 3 Nov 2020 3:50 AM GMTNot just engineering, even degree courses, which have of late shown a higher demand, are no longer in demand in Telangana. According to the government statistics, over two lack seats in various degree colleges across the state are remaining unclaimed. This means, only a half of the seat strength has been filled in the state.
Under the DOST (Degree Online Admissions Special Counseling), there are 986 degree colleges in the state of Telangana. Together, they have 4,09,456 seats in various degree courses. So far, three counselling sessions were organised and as many as 1,87,709 students have got admission and all these students have self-reported to the designated colleges. A special phase counselling was also done to provide admission to another 21,437 students.
The total number of students who secured admission and have self reported is 2.09 lakh. Thus, nearly two lakh seats are lying vacant this year. The students have been asked to report to the respective colleges before November 5.
