Study Says L-Type Coronavirus Train Is Way More Aggressive Than S-Type Strain
By: Tupaki Desk | 28 April 2020 5:20 AM GMTThe positive cases of the novel coronavirus in India have reached an alarming level with more than 27,000 cases. The COVID-19 fatalities stood at 880 in the country. The scientists have found out that SARS-CoV-2 strain, a different type of the virus might be the reason for the rise of the cases that too in some areas like Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh.
Taking about the same, Gujarat Biotechnology Research Centre said that the L-type strain of the COVID-19 might be the reason for the rapid growth of the positive cases and deaths in the state.
Earlier, a study carried out in China in the month of March stated that there are two kinds of novel coronavirus and the scientists at the Peking University and Institut Pasteur of Shanghai have found out that S and L types are the two main strains.
According to the new study, the L type coronavirus is more aggressive and prevalent more at the time when the outbreak started initially which has a high rate of transmission. There is a 4% of genetic difference between these two strains.
Looking at the L-type strain, its more likely to be found at places where the mortality rate is very high like Italy, Spain, and New York where the deaths are High.
