By: Tupaki Desk | 9 Jan 2021 12:11 PM GMTAfter several twists and turns, Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar released the election schedule for the local body elections on Friday.
As per the election schedule, the local body elections would be held in four phases, while the election process for the much-awaited local body elections would begin from the 23 of January 2021.
With the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) coming into force with immediate effect, all the government schemes, including House Site Patta and Jagananna Amma Vodi came to a halt.
It is said that State Election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has sent a circular to Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Adityanath Das over the Model Code of Conduct (MCC)
The Election Commission is in the opinion that allowing schemes before the elections could impact the local body elections that are fast approaching. That is why the circular was issued.
On the other hand, the Andhra Pradesh government is singing the same tune on the local body election. The government said it is not possible to go to the polls as the Coronavirus vaccination drive is expected to start in the state this month.
