Sumalatha decided to foray into active politics after the demise of her husband and Congress Leader Ambareesh. She even met Karnataka Congress Chief Siddaramaiah to express her willingness to contest from Mandya as her Hubby hails from that region. The Actress feels the necessity to contest from Mandya for the sake of Ambareesh Followers and Fans.
Immediately, JD (S) which is the alliance partner of Congress began mounting pressure on the National Party for Mandya Seat. CM Kumaraswamy want either his Son Nikhil or Sitting MP Shivarame Gowda to contest from Mandya in 2019 Polls. As a result, Congress troubleshooter DK Siva Kumar held talks with Sumalatha for convincing her to contest from Bengaluru South Constituency. She is currently in a big dilemma whether to shift to another segment or stay away from contest.
Former Union Minister Ananth Kumar who represented Bengaluru South Constituency for so long passed away recently. BJP is keen to field his Wife Tejaswini as party candidate here. If Sumalatha accepts the challenge, Sympathy Wave could be a crucial factor in this Lok Sabha Constituency.
