The Supreme Court delivered a historic judgement Today. Ban on Women of all age groups from entering Sabarimala Temple in Kerala has been lifted.

Five-Judge Bench headed by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra delivered a 4:1 Verdict in favour of Women regarding the entry into Sabarimala Temple. Until now, Women of the Menstrual Age (10 to 50 Years) have been barred from entering the premises of the famous Ayyappa temple.

The Chief Justice opined, 'Women are no way inferior to Men. Women are worshipped as Goddesses, but restrictions on them continue. Relationship with God can't be defined by biological or physiological factors. Imposing a ban on entry is nothing but gender discrimination. Sabarimala Temple practise preventing women from entering it's premises is a violation of Hindu women rights. Any custom which violates the dignity of women is unconstitutional'.
