The change in the colour of Taj Mahal from White to Yellow in the past and brown & green at present due to pollution and lack of proper maintenance invited the wrath of the Supreme Court.
Environmental Lawyer MC Mehta brought to the notice of the Apex Court that the UNESCO World Heritage site was in a pathetic condition. He told the Top Court that Yamuna river passing nearby has dried up, Encroachments has increased and CCTVs doesn't work. He also found fault with the Government for treating the monument just as a money-making venture.
Justice Madan B Lokur wondered whether Taj Mahal be still considered as 8th Wonder in the World while watching the pictures in discoloured form. He fumed on Government for not utilizing the expertise to conserve the 17th century monument.
Justice asked Govt Lawyers when was the last time they visited Taj Mahal. They replied that it's been more than a decade. Then, The Justice asked them to visit Taj Mahal now for having a better understanding.
Modi mocked Manmohan Singh saying he was a PM who doesn't speak. Where a PM speaks or not doesn't matter much as long as he works properly. Better if Modi focusses on doing what was needed than just making tall claims.
