Supreme Court Rejects Plea On Postponing JEE, NEET Exams

This marks the second time, the Apex Court rejected the plea that sought directions to postpone the exams as the novel Coronavirus is spreading its wings in the country.
Six states knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court to review its decision and postpone the exams by taking the safety of the lakhs of students into consideration.
The Constitution bench after hearing the arguments of both the parties said they can't find merit in the review petitions and hence the petitions were dismissed accordingly.
Six Opposition ruled states namely-Maharashtra, Bengal, Punjab, Rajasthan, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh governments moved the Supreme Court in this regard. However, the Supreme Court refused to postpone the exams.
Earlier the Apex Court rejected a similar request that came from 11 students of 11 students to postpone the exams on account of the Coronavirus outbreak.
According to the schedule, JEE exams will be commenced from the 1st of September and will continue until the 6th of September. While the NEET exam will be conducted on 13th September.
