Supreme Court Dismisses Petition Seeking Directives To UPSC Prelims Postponement

The Constitutional bench, which heard the arguments of both the parties refused to postpone the Civil Prelims exams.
The case reached the Supreme judicial body after 20 Civil Service aspirants knocking on the doors of the court to seek the postponement of the Prelims on the grounds of the COVID-19 pandemic and floods in some parts of India.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in its affidavit told the Supreme Court that to conduct the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examinations, more than Rs 50 crore was spent and the recruitment body will face a heavy loss with the postponement of exams.
The bench comprising of Justices A M Khanwilkar, B R Gavai, and Krishna Murari also refused a plea seeking the directives to club the UPSC 2020 exams with 2021 exams.
