Supreme Court tells WhatsApp that People value their privacy more than money

The Apex Court has served notice to both social media platforms and sought its response over the Privacy of the users. The Court said, to protect the people's privacy, it will have to intervene.
The three-judge Constitutional bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI), SA Bobde, which also comprises justices AS Bopanna, and V Ramasubramanian heard the petition on Monday challenging the privacy policy of WhatsApp.
During the hearing, the bench told Facebook and WhatsApp that, they might be a $2-3 trillion company, but the users value their privacy more than money.
The issue reached the top court after the petitioner has knocked on the doors of the Supreme Court against the WhatsApp privacy rules. The petitioner has claimed that the privacy rules for the users from the Indian region and European Region are different.
The counsel who appeared before the top court on behalf of the messaging apps told the court that the rumors and fears of privacy of the users are baseless and termed them as false allegations.
WhatsApp has surprised the Indian users by bringing an update in the privacy policy. The change in the policy forces the users to accept the data-sharing norms which are raising many concerns about the privacy of the users.
