Army Major who led the Surgical Strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) disclosed that return journey was the most difficult part of the whole operation and bullets fired by enemy Soldiers were so close that they were whistling past the ears of our Soldiers.

In the book 'India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes' which is based on Surgical Strikes, The Officer who led the operation is referred to as Major Mike Tango. Soldiers from the units which were mostly affected by the Uri Terror Attack were roped for Surgical Strikes. The book described this as a smart move which helps in laying the ghosts of Uri to rest.

Major Mike Tango himself choose the 19 men who took part in the Surgical Strikes. He knew lives of everyone of them are in danger & return journey would be a herculean task. Post the operation, Commandos had to carry out an uphill trek to reach LoC. It's a situation where Enemy Soldiers can kill them easily by firing bullets aiming their back. Four Terror Launch Pads of Pak Inter-Services Intelligence guarded by Pakistan Army were identified and destroyed during the operation.

The book 'India's Most Fearless: True Stories of Modern Military Heroes' was written by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh, and published by Penguin India. It narrated the 14 true stories of courage and fearlessness of Indian Soldiers.
