Small Cars banned in this Indian State
By: Tupaki Desk | 21 Aug 2015 1:51 PM GMTGuwahati High Court issued a ban on the launch of Small Cars that weigh under 1,500 kgs and those which don't meet the norms of crash test in Assam. The court passed this order in response to a petition appealing to make four-wheelers safer.
Of course, The ban willn't affect SUVs which are bigger in size as they have the capacity to save passengers during a crash. But, That willn't make the Automobile Industry which is on a revival mode happier. While the Northeastern States contribute 12 percent of the total car sales in the country, Assam is the highest revenue generating state among them for Automobile Industry.
Petitioners sought strict implementation of crash tests such as Global NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) which are practiced in developed nations to ensure safety of citizens. If ban remains even after the next hearing on August 27th, Automobile Industry will have to deal with another crisis.
