T Congress to split if Revanth Reddy is made TPCC chief
By: Tupaki Desk | 14 Nov 2019 4:27 AM GMTIs there a plan to split the Congress party? If sources are to be believed, plans are afoot to effect a split in the Congress legislature party in Telangana if Revanth Reddy is made the Pradesh Congress Committee chief. While the high command increasingly is seeing Revanth Reddy as a possible PCC chief to succeed Uttam Kumar Reddy, a section of the party is unhappy with the young leader. It feels that Revanth Reddy, a relatively newcomer, should not be made the PCC chief.
If and when Revanth Reddy is made the PCC chief, another strong Reddy faction, which has always been with the Congress, will leave the party. The batch is being led by two brothers, both of whom enjoy legislative positions. They will take at least three MLAs with him. This will ensure that their defection would be regarded as a split and will not thus invoke the provisions of the Anti-Defection Law. The Congress now has five MLAs and if this group manages three MLAs, it would escape disqualification.
Highly placed sources also say that this breakaway group might form a regional party and will not join the BJP or TRS immediately. It will lure the Congress voters and cadre towards itself before actually joining any party. Sources also tell us that this faction is planning to enter into a deal with the BJP for the next elections.
