In a significant move, controversial deputy collector and former president of the Telangana Tahsildar Association V Lachi Reddy has sent his resignation from the post of RDO. He has sent his resignation on April 14 and is hoping to get relieved at the earliest. There are strong rumours that he would join the BJP and contest the elections from Kodad assembly constituency.

Lachi Reddy was sidelined after the State Government suspected that he had met the then finance minister Eatala Rajender. The government felt that he had met Eatala to get some key information decided in the cabinet meeting. He was then the RDO of the Keesara mandal. He was soon shunted out to the remote area.

Of late, he is involved in developing a digital platform to highlight the problems of deputy collectors. He was also elected the president of the Telangana deputy collectors association. To rein him in, the government has transferred him to Bhupalpalli Sources say the government was getting ready to initiate action against him if he did not report to duties at Bhupalpally.

Sources say that Lachi Reddy is planning to join the BJP after resignation. He is said to be working to contest from Kodad assembly constituency. However, sources close to Lachi Reddy say that he is yet undecided about joining the BJP. Some said that there was no question of his joining the BJP. However, sources say he has already begun preparations for the Kodad assembly constituency.
