Phone Tapping: T Govt gets relief in HC

Its known that the CMM court in Vijayawada had recently directed telecom service providers Tata and Vodafone to submit call data of certain numbers and original letters written to them by authorities in the Telangana government in this regard.
Telangana government moved to Hyderabad High Court and asked for the stay and requested to implement same rules which were given by high Court earlier.After hearing the petition the High Court today directed the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Vijayawada to dispatch to its Registrar the sealed cover containing call detail record given by two telecom operators in connection with alleged phone-tapping by Telangana government.
Earlier also court directed registrar to submit call date of BSNL, Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular and Reliance Communications in sealed cover. With the recent orders the call data will be directly opened at High court.
The controversy over the alleged phone-tapping surfaced when some TV channels in Telangana aired an alleged telephonic conversation between Andhra Chief Minister and Stephenson; a nominated member of the Telangana assembly .
After the issue TDP leader Devineni Uma had filed a complaint at the Bhavanipuram police station alleging that TRS leaders were intercepting phone calls of AP CM N Chandrababu Naidu and his Cabinet colleagues.
