Congress Rajya Sabha member T Subbarami Reddy breathed fire at Union Government for ignoring the promises made to people of AP inspite of huge revenue deficit after bifurcation.

During the debate on Finance Bill in Rajya Sabha, Mr. Reddy reminds Hyderabad contributed most of United AP's revenue and AP became Capital-less state following bifurcation. Even though there is a provision in AP Reorganisation Act 2014 for granting Special Assistance to the new capital, Centre has sanctioned just Rs 850 crore so far. Even no big allocations were made to AP in the Union Budget 2016.

T Subbarami Reddy demanded Centre to compensate the loss AP incurred for sacrificing Hyderabad to Telangana state. He ridiculed NDA Government for granting Rs 100 crore for the Polavaram project in this year's budget. He questioned when would the project be completed if the allocations were minimal.

The Senior MP told AP faces revenue deficit of Rs 4,868 crore and fiscal deficit of Rs 20,497 crore. 'Centre should sanction at least Rs 25,000 crore immediate financial assistance to AP,' he demanded, apart from calling for raise of MPLADS funds for MPs from Rs 5 crore to Rs 10 crore per annum.
