Strike Ends: 1000-Plus Theatres to re-open!

About 1000-plus Theatres in Tamil Nadu has been shut down since July 3rd over high taxation on cinema. The whole Industry including Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth voiced their opinion against the double taxation. Even Opposition Parties have joined chorus to irk the ruling AIADMK.
Finally, AIADMK Government decided to constitute a Committee to take a call on the Local Body tax on Cinema. Subsequently, Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners and Distributors Association has called off the strike. All the theatres in the state will be re-opening from Today.
Kollywood lost a revenue of around Rs 20 crore per day during the strike period. A lot of risk has been taken by Exhibitors & Distributors for the welfare of the Industry.
