The swearing-in ceremony of VK Sasikala Natarajan as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister was supposed to happen at 8.30 AM Today in the Madras University. However, Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao decided to delay it till next week as Supreme Court is going to deliver it's verdict on Rs 66 crore illegal assets case against Jayalalithaa and Sasikala. He took this call after seeking legal opinion from Attorney General during his Delhi tour.

Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao accepted the resignation of O Panneerselvam immediately. He, however, asked Panneerselvam and his Council of Ministers to continue in their respective posts food few days.

In 2001, Supreme Court found fault with then Tamil Nadu Governor Fatima Beevi for allowing the swearing-in ceremony of Jayalalithaa even after she was barred from contesting polls. Beevi had been forced to submit her resignation after Union Cabinet took call to ask President to sack her for failing to discharge her duties properly. So, Vidhyasagar Rao wants Sasikala to wait until the SC delivers its verdict.
