Tata Steel Former Director Jamshed Jiji Irani Passes Away

The group became a part and pride of India though the founder of the company Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata has roots in Iran. His legacy in India is such that he is fondly called as "Father of Indian Industry" and the group made many valuable contributions to the country.
The Jamshedpur-based Tata Steel company suffered a big loss as former Tata Sons Director Dr. Jamshed J Irani passed away at 86. He breathed his last on Monday night in Jamshedpur. The company took to social media to share the news of Irani passing away.
Jamshed Jiji Irani played a big role in taking the Tata Steel brand image to the global level. He served as the director of Tata steel and stepped down from his position in 2007. The valuable contributions he made earned him the Padma Bhushan award.
After finishing his UG and PG in Nagpur, Jamshed Irani joined the British Iron and Steel Research Association and worked for a few years. Later he joined Tata Sons. Since 1968 he started working with the company and held various key positions in the company. His knowledge of Steel helped the company to become a big brand. Tata Steel is also exporting steel to other countries now.
"We are deeply saddened at the demise of Padma Bhushan Dr. Jamshed J Irani, fondly known as the Steel Man of India. Tata Steel family offers its deepest condolences to his family and loved ones", Tata Steel said on Twitter.
Dr. Jamshed J Irani was born on June 2, 1936, in Nagpur. He finished his study in Nagpur and he has a BSc degree from Nagpur Science College. Later he left for the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom and finished his Masters and Ph.D. in Metallurgy there.
His association with Tata Steel is a long one and he worked with the company for over four long decades. Jamshed Jiji Irani held various positions in Tata groups and gave his best in taking the Tata Steel brand to the global level. He held the position of National President of the Confederation of Indian Industry for one year.
