Leaders, Workers Cool To Chandrababu Visit

The Telugu Desam Party is facing a very strange situation in Chittoor, the home district of its chief Chandrababu Naidu. The party has lost all but Chanuseddrababu's home turf of Kuppam. The loss has left the party machinery thoroughly dispirited and demoralised. The cadre is totally down in the dumps and the leaders are still benumbed.
None of the leaders are moving in the public and are trying to instill confidence in the cadre. The cadre feel threatened by the dominant YSRCP presence. In some places, there are reports of YSRCP cadre threatening the TDP workers in Pakala and Chandragiri mandals. The cadre are shocked to see that the leadership is not coming to their rescue. Many leaders are so dispirited that they are not even responding to the LoSs from the cadre. The lack of initiative, drive and motivation among the leaders and cadres is seen to be believed, they have never been this demoralised even when the TDP was out of power for ten years between 2004 and 2014. There are reports that in many villages, the TDP leaders and cadres have fled the village as their afraid of YSRCP repraisals. The demoralisation is so deep that the TDP workers are not willing to go to the people even when they are attacked. The cadre is not willing to protest even demolition of the Praja Vedika. Recently, the walls of the pulses factory gowdown belonging to TDP supporter Abdul Ali has been moved down in Chandragiri. Yet, there is no response from the party cadre. There is a general feeling that the district level leaders have left the cadre to fend for itself.
Party chief Chandrababu Naidu is visiting the district on Tuesday and Wednesday. He is expected to interact with the party workers and leaders. The party cadre is hoping that his tour will breathe some life into the party.
