TDP domination in AP legislative council to end soon
X
TDP's domination in the AP legislative council will soon become a thing of past. Starting from next month, the YSRCP will keep bagging MLC seat after MLC seat and would soon become the dominant party in the council. When the YSRCP gets the majority, there would be no need to abolish the legislative council.

On May 24, the term of three MLCs will come to an end. Present chairperson of the council and TDP's MA Sharief, BJP state chief Somu Veerraju and YSRCP MLC DC Govinda Raju's term will end. Thus, the YSRCP will get two additional MLC seats. Given the majority of the party in the assembly, it is a foregone conclusion that the YSRCP will win all these seats. Not just these, there would be several more retirements in the council and all of them will go into the YSRCP's kitty.

Highly placed sources say that while Govinda Reddy might get another term, the other two vacancies are likely to be filled with senior leader from Guntur Marri Rajasekhar and another senior leader. Marri was to contest from Chilakaluripet assembly constituency in 2019, but had to make way for Vidudala Rajani. So, he is likely to be accommodated in the council. In the month of June, few more MLCs are going to retire and even these seats are going to go the YSRCP way. The YSRCP is going to get its leaders nominated through the governor's quota too.
