TDP has no pan-AP issue to fight YSRCP government

There is a fair degree of confusion among the TDP thinking heads about the issues to be highlighted against the YSRCP government. The party is unable to pick a credible issue to target the YSRCP. The PRC issue was a useful stick to beat Jagan and his government, but the government employees did not allow the TDP to join their struggle. Moreover, the issue has quickly been solved so as to deny the TDP an opportunity to mobilise the people against YSRCP.

Even on the issue of the reorganization of the districts in the state, the TDP is in confusion. It did pick up some local grievances, but issues like naming of Krishna district after NTR have put the TDP in a spot. It can neither support nor oppose such decisions. In fact, the YSRCP is moving in to solve most of the disputes amicably. On the issue of Polavaram too, the TDP is wary of targeting the YSRCP because it could expose the failures of the Chandrababu Government.

The TDP has decided to take up the bad condition of the roads across the state. However, Jagan preempted them by releasing funds for the repair works. The tender process has already been taken up. With this, the TDP has lost another major issue which could help it ingratiate itself with the people. As of now, there is no local issue that the TDP can highlight.

Though leaders like Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna and Paritala Sriram are highlighting the problematic issues in the districts' reorganization, they are only local issues and can only have local impact. The TDP does not seem to have a major issue . Even the Amaravati issue too has ended up as a dud. The issue is now pushed to the backburner by the districts reorganization issue.
