TDP in a quandary over naming Krishna district after NTR

The TDP is still unable to digest the YSRCP government's decision to name Krishna district after legendary actor-cum-TDP founder NTR. By this single decision, the YSRCP may not get additional votes from the Kamma community, but has seriously dented Chandrababu's image. Now, questions are being asked as to what prevented the TDP from naming a district after the legendary Telugu icon.
Another problem for the TDP is that it can neither criticise nor oppose the decision. If it opposes the decision to name the district after NTR, it would be a loss of face . If It remains silent, the perception would be that the YSRCP did what Chandrababu could not do all these years.
The TDP used to pass a perfunctory resolution in Mahanadu demanding Bharat Ratna to NTR. But, it never made an attempt to contact the Central Government. Even when Chandrababu was playing a pivotal role in the national politics, there was never a sincere effort to get Bharat Ratna for NTR. Even NTR's family members too never made any sincere effort to get Bharat Ratna for NTR.
Now with the YSRCP seizing the initiative, the TDP is finding this quite unpalatable. So, unofficially, the TDP has sent leaks to the media that it is happy at a district being named after NTR. But, it is trying to find loopholes in the government decision and is trying to argue that the district reorganisation may not after all take place now in view of the Census operations.
