TDP jittery as 7 party corporators meet YSRCP MLA

There was panic in the Telugu Desam on Saturday when seven of the winning corporators in the Greater Vizag Municipal Corporation (GVMC) met YSRCP MLA Tippala Nagireddy and had a long meeting. This has sent warning bells in the TDP amid fears that they might leave the TDP and join the YSRCP.
The YSRCP has a comfortable majority in the GVMC and the TDP emerged as the main opposition party. However, the TDP performed better in Gajuwaka area where the steel plant issue has considerable influence. On Saturday, the seven winning corporators suddenly materialised in MLA Tippala Nagireddy's office in Gajuwaka area. A shocked TDP issued showcause notices to the TDP corporators.
The corporators were guarded in their response. They said they had only met the MLA as they had issues pertaining to the development of their divisions. Since Nagireddy was their MLA, they had met him to ask for grants for taking up developmental works. But the TDP leadership appears unconvinced and is keeping an eye on these corporators.
