TDP's Plight: Leaders go inactive, cadres go vanishing
By: Tupaki Desk | 20 March 2022 8:58 AM ISTThe once mighty TDP is now a poor shadow of its former self. The party is suffering from an acute leadership crisis. An ageing Chandrababu, unripe leadership of Lokesh and disinterested local satraps are rendering the party ineffective. Despite growing disenchantment with the ruling YSRCP, the graph of the TDP is now rising correspondingly.
In many assembly constituencies, the TDP does not have incharges to fight it out. Several of the top leaders are now biding their time in hibernation. Many have already joined the YSRCP for greener pastures. An ageing Chandrababu is unable to inspire confidence among the leaders. Many leaders are adopting a policy of non-cooperation with Nara Lokesh.
Nara Lokesh suffered a huge setback when he lost the Mangalagiri elections. Though he has vastly improved his diction, modulation and overall image, he is still seen as an ineffectual leader. Several seniors have openly told Chandrababu that they were okay with his leadership but not that of Lokesh Babu.
The big problem for the TDP is that several of its ground level cadres have slipped away from the party. They are slowly moving for greener pastures. The party is unable to revive itself. Though it has a great presence on social media, it is unable to translate the support into votes. The party is unable to capture the imagination of the people.
Will Chandrababu be able to revive the party? Will the disinterested cadres be re-energised in the coming days? Will Lokesh outgrow the negative image and emerge as a credible leader for the TDP? Will the TDP be able to regenerate itself? Let's wait and see how things unfold for the TDP.
