TDP Puts Break To YCP, Wins Darsi Municipality

As expected, the YSRCP is dominating the recently held urban local body elections. It is leading in the Kuppam Municipality and won the Penugonda Municipality, the stronghold of the TDP with the Paritala family dominating the region. However, TDP had managed to restrict the YSRCP from sweeping the elections.
Despite the YSRCP having strong representation in the Prakashan district, TDP emerged victorious in the Darsi Municipality. With a margin of double the seats, the opposite claimed the Municipality.
As per the election results that were announced on Wednesday, TDP had won not less than 13 wards and restricted YSRCP with just seven wards. This result is a major sigh of relief for the opposition party.
YSRCP failing to win the Municipality is a shock as the matter of fact is that the party candidate had won the Darsi Assembly position and two leaders from Prakasam district are holding Cabinet Minister posts in the government.Despite this, the party failed to create momentum and win the Municipality.
One reason that is said to have worked in favour of TDP is that the opposition party created magic in Prakasam district in the previous general elections and managed to win four Assembly positions.
Moreover, it is also said that the YSRCP leaders have not given their best in the Campaign activities and this made the difference.
The election result will surely upset the ruling YSRCP that is on a spree of winning the elections in the state irrespective of the levels. From Local bodies to urban local bodies to by elections there is no stopping for YSRCP.
Looking at this from the TDP point of view, the opposition party is seeing this as a moral win given the fact that it has been recording humiliating defeats in recent times. Despite losing other Municipalities and Corporations TDP held its nerves in Darsi Municipality.
On the other hand, it is said that the TDP is now busy zeroing in on suitable candidates for the Municipal Chairman and Vice Chairman positions reportedly. We can expect a big announcement from the TDP on the same developments soon.
