TDP already begun the ground work to built the part's organisation in Odisha which have a sizeable Telugu-speaking population. A 90-day Membership Drive is being planned in the neighbouring state to create as many active members as possible. The membership drive is likely to start post Dussehra and even State Committee will be announced early next year to strengthen the party.
Major focus of Telugu Desam is on Southern Odisha districts such as Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Rayagada. The three parliamentary constituencies (Berhampur, Koraput and Nabarangpur) in these six districts have sizeable Telugu populace. It's because of this reason former PM PV Narasimha Rao chose to contest from Berhampur in 1996.
