TDP to use the NRIs as the trump Card in elections?

The 2019 general elections in Andhra Pradesh came as the biggest nightmare for the grand old Telugu Desam Party. The party had recorded the worst ever election performance by winning just 23 seats. No one would have expected that TDP would lose the elections cheaply.

The actual crisis for the party started with the election result. A few leaders have shifted their loyalties to the ruling party and the opposition party is aggressively going forward in targeting the opposition party. The series of defeats made TDP look weak.

Forget about losing the local body elections the TDP even lost the strong fortress Kuppam and after a long period the party had lost the elections in the constituency represented by Chandrababu Naidu. This has raised a few questions about the future of TDP.

The TDP cadre is worried about the future of the party that they have asked party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu to bring back Young Tiger NTR to the party and form an alliance with Janasena. In two different incidents the demand was brought to the notice of CBN.

When Chandrababu was campaigning for TDP in Kuppam a few party activists had asked him to bring NTR back. In another incident he was asked about allying with Janasena to which he said it is like a one-sided one.

As the upcoming general elections are a do or die for the TDP the party has already started its preparations and the leaders are not leaving any stone unturned to target the ruling party. Going by the same plan the opposition party had already supported the employees protest against the PRC.

To increase the winning chances of the party the leadership is said to have given its nod for a bunch of NRIs to run the forthcoming elections. A few of them are already traveling with the party at the ground level and a few others might join the force at the time of the polls.

If the same happens then it should be seen as a strategic move by the opposition party. As it enjoys a good reputation among the Telugu NRIs the party wants to make use of it at its best. The good reputation is at a tune that NRIs celebrate the Nandamuri heroos films release like a festival. Akhanda is a classic example of that.
