TDP wins in Avanigadda by-polls

The by-poll was held to fill the place of Avangadda sitting MLA Ambati Brahmanaiah who passed away in April this year. TDP fileded his son Srihari Prasad in the by-poll and all the major parties have decided as a mark of respect to the deceased MLA. However, two independent candidates refused to withdraw from the fray only to spoil the unanimous election and face shameful defeat.
While Srihari Prasad secured 75,282 votes, his opponents Rajasekhar (an independent) got 13,638 votes and Ravi Subrahmanyam (an independent) received 3,389 votes out of total 92,309 votes polled on August 21st. Finally, Srihari Prasad was declared as a winner with a margin of 61,644 votes.
