TDP Zeroes on Credible Candidate to Take on Kodali Nani?
By: Tupaki Desk | 30 April 2022 6:25 AM GMTDue to various reasons, the Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh has been a stronghold of the grand old Telugu Desam Party. However, the TDP had begun to lose its hold on the key Gudivada constituency after the 2009 polls. Gudivada MLA Kodali Nani switching sides after the elections is the key reason behind this.
Going by the advice of late Nandamuri Harikrishna and his son Young Tiger NTR, TDP gave Kodali Nani a party wicket for the 2004 polls. Nani went on to win the 2004 and 2009 elections and got a stronghold on the constituency.
However, Kodali Nani joined the YSRCP in 2012 and contested the 2104 polls, and won as the MLA. In the recent 2019 polls as well Kodali Nani emerged victorious in the polls. After joining the YSRCP, Kodali Nani has been targeting TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and using foul language. Kodali Nani is not shying away from using foul language against Chandrababu Naidu, Nora Lokesh, and TDP.
To give a strong counter to Kodali Nani and to win the Gudivada Assembly constituency, the TDP has been working hard and it appears like the party had managed to zero on a candidate who can take on Kodali Nani in the forthcoming elections.
Political experts say that the Telugu Desam Party wants to give a chance to one Lohith Sistla to run the polls. After considering various elements, the grand old party is believed to have decided to make him run the polls from Gudivada.
The elements that are working in favor of him are that he hails from a political background family and his father enjoys a good image among the people in the region. Lohith is also financially sound as his family is into various money-yielding businesses like real estate and others.
He is a young leader and hails from the Brahmin community. His popularity and good image don't restrict to his community alone. He has good relations and ties with other communities like Kamma as well. After looking at all these issues, TDP is reportedly banking on him as a credible candidate. He might have a tough time as Kodali Nani already enjoys a good image and stronghold in Gudivada.
