Team India to tour in two countries at the same time!
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 May 2021 5:02 AM GMTTeam India led by skipper Virat Kohli is gearing up to play the ICC World Test Championship Final against the black caps led by Kane Williamson, in the inaugural edition of the Test Championship.
After the Test Championship, the Men in Blue will lock horns with the English team for five Test matches and other formats of the game as well.
With the stalwarts like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah will be playing the WTC, the second Indian team will be touring in Sri Lanka for a T20 Series and an ODI series as well.
As the two series will be played probably at the same time, India will be touring on two different continents, making it the second team to tour in two countries at the same time.
India now has a big pool of talent. While the key players were included in the WTC squad, the second Indian team led by Shikhar Dhawan will play against Sri Lanka for ODI and T20 series.
Players like Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, 'Swing King' Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and others who were not picked for Test Championship were given a chance for the Sri Lanka series.
It has to be noted that, without any stalwarts like Kohli, Bumrah, Ashwin, and Jadeja, India played a Test match against mighty Australia and retained the Border-Gavaskar trophy. The absence of big names gave a chance for youngsters and they used the chance very well,'
