Teegala, Sabtha Indrareddy fight reaches Meerpet streets

The internal differences in the TRS have come to the fore in the all-important Maheshwaram assembly constituency. This constituency is held by Education Minister Sabitha Indra Reddy. But, former Hyderabad mayor Teegala Krishna Reddy too belongs to this constituency and there is a battle for supremacy between the two.
On Tuesday, Krishna Reddy accused Sabitha Indra Reddy of ruining the Meerpet area. He said that the minister was encouraging illegal occupation of the Meerpet lake. He also said that she has left the development of the constituency to winds and has done nothing to speed up the Trunk Line works.
Sabitha-Teegala rivalry began long back. In 2014, Teegala, a TDP candidate then, defeated Sabitha, then in Congress, and then joined the TRS. In 2019, Teegala was the TRS candidate. He was defeated by Congress candidate Sabitha. After victory on Congress ticket, Sabitha Indra Reddy defected to the TRS.
Now, both the leaders are engaged in a battle of supremacy. The TRS in Maheshwaram is divided into two groups - each led by Sabitha and Teegala. Both the leaders want to contest from the same constituency. Teegala's latest attack against Sabitha shows that all is not well in the TRS. Teegala has in the past threatened to join the BJP. He relented only after KTR intervened. But, it is now clear that the coming days will witness more acrimonious battles between the two leaders.
