By: Tupaki Desk | 27 Nov 2017 8:15 AM GMTDuring the recent press meet, Journalists questioned IT Minister K Taraka Rama Rao about Rs 4,000 crore escalation of budget due to the delay of Metro Rail Project. They asked, 'Who is going to take the responsibility for it and who will bear the burden?'.
In reply, KTR questioned: 'Who said the delay led to Rs 4,000 crore additional expenditure? How did you know that? Do you know the total value of the Metro Rail Project?'.
The Minister, however, refrained from giving a proper answer to the questions raised by the Journos. But, He did admit the project got delayed as Government want an end-to-end connectivity. He ended the topic saying answer will be given at the right time.
Hyderabad Metro Rail project completion got delayed by one-and-a-half years due to various reasons. Ultimately, It's the people who have to bear the burden of budget escalation. The ticket prices announced by L&T are 200 percent more than what it was in the agreement.
