Coop Elections: Congress In Coma
X
Though the date for the filing of nominations for the cooperative elections is over on Saturday, there is no activity in the Congress camp in Telangana. Most Congress leaders have remained confined to their homes and have not even organised a strategy meeting so far. There is no one to guide the party workers and those who are interested to contest the elections. Though the elections are not going to be fought on party symbols, it is an open secret that every political party wants to get its leaders elected to the key grassroot-level setup, which will significantly influence the politics at the village level.

The Congress leadership is mainly confined to Hyderabad and have not ventured out after the humiliating defeat in the municipal elections. Leaders like Uttam Kumar Reddy, who have been elected to the Lok Sabha are busy with the national level affairs and are showing little interest in the local affairs. As a result, the party has become rudderless in Telangana, say political watchers.

Meanwhile, senior leader V Hanumanth Rao is busy lodging complaints against the Congress councillors and corporators joining hands with the BJP in the aftermath of the municipal polls to get the chairperson's post in Manikonda municipality. He is said to have submitted a report to this effect to the Congress high command.
