Allies Turn Tormentors For Congress
By: Tupaki Desk | 18 Sep 2018 9:58 AM GMTThe Congress in Telangana is in a fix. It needs allies to defeat the TRS, but the cannot put up with the demands of the allies. If the sources are to be believed, the allies â TDP, CPI and TJS, are demanding 53 seats. This only means that the Congress would have to be fully dependent on these allies to form a government. The TDP is demanding at least 30 seats, while the TJS is asking for 15 and the CPI another eight. If these demands are met, the Congress cannot win the majority seats. What more, the TDP is asking even the seats that are held by Congress bigwigs Chinna Reddy and Kishan Reddy. TDP's only strength is its money power. It is offering to bear the cost of the whole election for the Congress. But, should the Congress leave key seats just for money? If that is done, the Congress story is as good as finished.
Similarly, the TJS demands too are unreasonable. The party has no organizational backup and no popular strength. All it has is Kodandaram's image. Same is the case of the CPI. It has just one seat in Telangana as of now, but wants eight.
Several senior Congress leaders have already taken the issue to the notice of the high command. They met Rahul Gandhi and told him that the TDP deserves no more than 15 seats, while TJS and CPI should be content with eight and three seats. We learnt that Rahul Gandhi reportedly told the Congress leaders that the final call on seat sharing should lie with the TPCC.
