Harish Rao Asks The Centre To Devolve The Due Funds
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 Sep 2020 12:20 PM GMTAddressing the State Legislative Council, Telangana Finance Minister Thaneeru Harish Rao lashed out at the Centre led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Minister found fault with the Centre for not releasing the funds amid the pandemic outbreak and advising the states to borrow loans.
He lambasted the Centre, which granted permission for the state to borrow loans for the due amount instead of releasing the amount. For the Financial year 2018-19, Telangana is due to receive an amount of Rs 1,435 crore.
Speaking in the house, Harish Rao slammed the Centre for imposing restrictions, which stops the states from borrowing the 5% of gross state domestic product (GSDP) for the present fiscal.
Earlier too, Harish Rao asked the Centre to release the GST funds for the state. In the video conference held with Finance Ministers of West Bengal, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, and Punjab Harish Rao said that the Centre has to compensate for the shortages in the revenue collections.
He told the house that to combat the Coronavirus, the state has spent as much as Rs 5.000 crore and added that the government will decide on the salaries of government employees before the month-end.
