The Musi river in Hyderabad received record floods in almost two decades with the continuous rainfall leaving a deadly toll on the state. The situation reached a level that people in nearby areas were vacated.

Following this, the Telangana government led by Chief Minister Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao has decided to offer Shanti Puja to Musi River.

The Shanti Puja was held at the Puranapur Kamaan on the Musi River. After Puja, Silk robes, Turmeric, Kumkum, and flowers were offered to Goddess Ganga.

Telangana Home Minister Mahmood Ali, Minister of Animal Husbandary, Fisheries, and Cinematography Talasani Srinivas Yadav, and GHMC Mayor Bontu Rammohan offered Shanti Puja. Later the lawmakers have offered a chadar' at the Dargah.

This is not the first time, Shanti Puja was offered to Musi River. Back in 1908, the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad, Mir Mahboob Ali offered Shanti Puja to Musi River, which once served as a drinking writer source.

It is believed that the floods in the Musi River stopped after Shanti Puja was offered to the river. Let's hope the same works for this time also.

The heavy downpour received by the city resulted in over 50 casualties. Several properties were severely damaged. Many roads in low-lying areas were washed away with the floods.
