By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Dec 2015 9:34 AM GMTHere comes a spoilsport for party goers and New Year bash organizers in Telangana state. The Telangana government has decided to throw in a wet blanket over the celebrations and the organizers New Year parties will have to pay extra tax this year.
The Telangana Commissioner of Commercial Taxes today announced that government will charge a 20 per cent entertainment tax on parties organized in the city. He informed in an advert that the New Year celebration will come under the commercial tax payment category hence asked to pay 20 percent extra. He also suggested the organizers to contact the commercial tax department and register their events. He said all star hotels and pubs need to pay the entertainment tax without fail and to avoid penal action from the department.
He said that the permission would be granted after the payment of the entertainment tax to the government. The decision of government turned shocker to organizers. They however showed his dissent against the move who said that there was no option but to pass on the burden to the common man.
We have already pay a food tax, liquor tax and this additional tax will only make the New Year eve's dinner an expensive affair. Hyderabad is now the second city, after Mumbai, to be charged with entertainment tax for New Year celebrations
