Telangana SEC Says Even Ballot Papers With Pen Marks Are Valid
By: Tupaki Desk | 4 Dec 2020 4:08 AM GMTIn a very surprising and highly unusual circular, the Telangana State Election Commission on Thursday night said that even ballot papers with marker pen tick marks should be considered valid. This shocking order came at 10 PM on Thursday night and was issued only to the counting authorities. This said that in addition to the Swastik mark stamp which indicates a voter's choice, the counting officials should also treat as valid those with tick marks using marker pens.
Quite understandably, the BjP has not just raised an alarm, but also said that it would approach the courts of law. The BJP called the State Election Commissioner as a gambler. It, however, said that it will not stall counting on the issue. The BJP said that the orders to treat ballot papers with marker pen tick marks as valid has come under directions from the Pragathi Bhavan.
BJP president Bandi Sanjay said that there was a deliberate attempt to ensure the TRS victory. The election commission, which gave an hourly report of polling percentage till 3 pm, had given the polling percentage between 5 pm and 6 pm only late in the night. He said that there was a massive rigging in several selected
booths by both the MIM and the TRS.
