Tell Your Decision on holding Exams by Evening: SC to AP
By: Tupaki Desk | 24 Jun 2021 9:32 AM GMTThe Supreme Court had once again heard a petition on holding the examinations in Andhra Pradesh on Thursday. The bench advised the state government to think about the issue from a 360 degrees angle.
Expressing concerns over the possible third wave, the bench asked the Andhra Pradesh government what if the third wave hits after going for the exams. Conducting exams during this period is not advisable, the bench said.
Going by the report filed by the Andhra Pradesh government on the arrangements for the exams, the Supreme Court bench asked how 34,000 rooms will be made available to conduct the examinations.
"We should go by the trend. After exams, evaluation of grades and marks should also be done. When the experts are warning about the new variants of the pandemic, why does the government want to conduct exams," the bench said.
Advising the government to not play with the lives of the students, the bench said, a compensation of Rs 1 crore should be given for the very life lost. The government said it is ready to hold the exams. But there is no required information in the report submitted, the bench opined.
The bench comprising Justice AM Khanwlikar and Justice Dinesh Maheshwari directed Andhra Pradesh to tell its decision on the exams conducted by the evening of Thursday.
