In a shocking incident which shows the monarchy of the rulers a man in Thailand was sentenced to 37 years in prison for insulting the king's dog.Thanakorn Siripaiboon, a factory worker was sentenced to jail for making "sarcastic" Internet post related to the king's pet.

The country's military courts charged him with writing "sarcastic" posts on social media. However the precise insult towards the dog was not specified in the military court where he was charged.The person is also accused of sharing a post on Facebook that alleged corruption in the construction of a monument to previous Thai kings

Thailand has one of the world's harshest royal defamation laws. Anyone convicted of insulting the kings can face up to 15 years in jail on each count.In Thailand King Bhumibol Adulyadej is revered. People believe he is an incarnation of God. Insulting him or his pets is considered a sacrilege.

In last December two Thai students pleaded guilty to insulting the monarchy after staging a play about a fictitious king.
