The Best Final Ever In ICC World Cup History
By: Tupaki Desk | 15 July 2019 5:12 AM GMTFinal of 2019 ICC ODI World Cup between England and New Zealand was sensational to say the least. The nail-biting finish kept everyone watching it on the edge of their seats and nobody had any clue about who gonna win until the completion of the match. This is undoubtedly the best final ever in the World Cup History.
New Zealand Skipper won the Toss and elected to bat. Black Caps posted a score of 241 at the loss of 8 wickets.
While chasing, England lost four top order wickets for just 86 runs. That is when Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler had over 100 run partnership to stabilise the innings. In the end, England got all out for 241. The match ended in a tie and led to the Super Over.
In the Super Over, England set a target of 16 runs by scoring 15 runs in the over bowled by Boult. In reply, New Zealand scored 14 runs in just 5 balls. For the last ball, Black Caps had to score two runs. Even if its a tie, England will be the champions as they had scored more boundaries than New Zealand in the 50 Overs and Super Over they batted. Martin Guptill whipped away the yorker bowled by Jofra Archer in front of the deep square to take 2, but the throw from Jason Roy is accurate enough to let Jos Buttler whip off the bails to find the New Zealand Opener fell short of the crease. That is how the match ended in a tie again and England became the World Champions for the first time.
Ben Stokes was Man Of The Match for his brilliant 83 runs and superb contribution in the Super Over as well.
New Zealand Skipper Kane Williamson was the Player of the Tournament for scoring 578 runs and brilliant captaincy.
